Walk the Longest National Scenic Trail

Of the 11 National Scenic Trails, which is the longest? The Appalachian Trail or the Pacific Crest Trail?

The answer (Neither) may be a surprise, unless you are a fan of the North Country Trail, which stretches 4,700 miles from Vermont to North Dakota. We walked two spectacular sections of the path in Wisconsin today within Copper Falls State Park. Hikers in the northern Wisconsin park can view Copper Falls, Brownstone Falls (pictured above) and Red Granite Falls from the trail’s viewpoints, which are accessed via several bridges.

  1. Are you from Wisconsin or just passing through? Some intense walks in the UK. One of our main walks in Ireland is from Tralee to Dingle both in County Kerry in the South West. It is all mountains with plenty little pubs on the way and sheep of course.

    1. Hello,
We are traveling from our home state of Oregon. We would love to walk in Ireland and have some guidebooks about Irish treks, including the Dingle Way and the Kerry Way. Ireland and the U.K. are full of wonderful walks, it seems. We walked the West Highland Way and nearly half of England’s South West Coast Path. Thanks for the recommendation!
